Antique Times

Post by Dana Brooks » Thu Jun 15, 2006 10:55 am

I've heard alot of talk
About the good ole days
From my grandpa and grandma
Stories from many yesterday's

I love to hear those stories
Way back to the model T
All those many memories
That always seem to fasinate me

Back to when a coke cost a nickel
When you could trust people you'd meet
Whether it be close knit family
Or even a stranger on the street

When everyone would get together
On a sunny Sunday afternoon
To talk about past generations
With love that gracefully filled the room

Back to when families sat at the supper table
All would hold hands while the food was blessed by grace
Where if company should unexpectedly arrive
There was always enough room for another supper plate

If only we could all go back
To when love did'nt cost a dime
Life would be so much simpler
If we were back in the antique times

And ol' Norm is right there, too!!! LOL
When he went to get his marriage license a few weeks ago they looked up at him and asked him if he would like it "in antique."

How beautiful, Dana. I am one of those from antique times. I grew up in family surroundings that did exactly those things. It was wonderful and I look back in my mind and wish the world was still like that. You are a wonderful poet and I admire your talent greatly.
