She Said Hold Me [song]
As I was sitting at a bar
Passing the time away
A pretty lady came swaying in
I caught her in my arms as she fell my way
[chorus]
“She said hold me
For I’ve been in a fight
Don’t let me hit the floor
Tell me I’ll be alright”
I felt something wet on my hand
Then seen it was her blood
I called out to the bar keep
And he called her a squad
The next thing I knew
The cops was trying to charge me
But the bartender told my story
And they had to set me free
I went by the hospital the next day
To see if she was alright
Trying to get information
Almost seemed like a fight
As I walked down the hall
I heard a familiar sound
I had passed the room
So I had to turn around
[Repeat chorus]
“She said hold me
For I’ve been in a fight
Don’t let me hit the floor
Tell me I’ll be alright”
As I walked into her room
Her eyes lit up like diamonds
A nurse was there with her
Talking to me was her demand
She said her boyfriend was drunk
Had stabbed her outside the bar
She only knew she was hurt
Just before she fell into my arms
[Repeat chorus]
“She said hold me
For I’ve been in a fight
Don’t let me hit the floor
Tell me I’ll be alright”
She said “now he’s in jail
And I don’t know what I’ll do
Can you stay with me a while?
If that’s not too much to ask of you?”
I agreed to spend some time
And we became close friends
She’s such a beautiful lady
Sweetest Angel Heaven could send
[Repeat chorus]
“She said hold me
For I’ve been in a fight
Don’t let me hit the floor
Tell me I’ll be alright”
It wasn’t long until we married
The proudest day of my life
Watching her come down the isle
Smiling just to be my wife
Now and then we go by that bar
To see the bar keep and have a few
I still remember her sweet words
As she fell into my arms on that stool
[Repeat chorus]
“She said hold me
For I’ve been in a fight
Don’t let me hit the floor
Tell me I’ll be alright”
