" IF EVERYONE "

Post by Marigold » Sat Mar 10, 2012 9:33 pm

If everyone who drives a car could lie a month in bed,
With broken bones, and stitched up wounds, or fractures of the head.
And there endure the agonies that many people do,
They'd never need preach safety any more to me or you.

If everyone could stand beside the bed of some close friend,
And hear the doctor say "NO HOPPE " before the fatal end.
And see him there unconcious, never knowing what took place
The laws and rules of traffic, I am sure we'd soon embrace.

If everyone could meet the wife and children left behind,
And step into the darkened room where once the sunlight shined.
And look upon the vacant chair, where Daddy used to sit,
I'm sure each reckless driver would be forced to think a bit.

If everyone would realise pedestrians on the street,
Have just as much the right- of- way , as those upon the seat.
And train their eyes for children, who run recklessly at play
This steady toll of human lives would drop from day to day.

If everyone would check his car, before he took a trip,
For tyres worn, loose steering, wheels and brakes that fail to grip.
And pay attention to his lights when driving roads at night
Another score for safety could be chalked up in the fight.

If everyone who drives a car could heed the danger signs
Placed by the highway engineers, who also mark the lines.
To keep the traffic in the lane, and give it proper space
The accidents we read about would not have taken place.

And last, if he who takes the wheel, would say a little prayer,
And keep in mind those in the car depending on his care
And make a vow and pledge himself, to never take a chance
This great crusade for safety would suddenly advance.

Awesome, powerful message here, Marigold! It is so near and dear to my heart, as my biological mom was killed by a drunk driver in 1965. I love this poem. God bless you and your Wilson for a truly beautiful day our Lord has made for us!

Thank you dear sisters. I was involved in a car accident about 18 months ago.I was driving where I had not been before and so busy looking for street names I failed to see a car coming to my right. (My Fault) No one was badly hurt (except my car) although we were taken to hospital for a check up. So my dears I am among the "everyone". Lovely day here in Dandenong. Going to reach 30 Cel. I think I will wash the windows. Have a great day. Love Margaret.xx

Margaret,
This is so good and so true! My daughter on her first day back from college had a young guy who was texting on his phone pull out in front of her she was lucky she did not die the impact threw her across 3 lanes of traffic and destroyed her car and she was trapped inside because her foot had been knocked off of her leg! God was so good they did surgery on her and her leg is mostly all metal inside she was in a hospital bed for 3 months and she cried everyday from the pain it was awful! we took care of her at home. Today she is a nurse and walking with occasional swelling if she does to much but God has taken very good care of her and I am forever grateful to Him for everything! So this poem really touched me also!
God Bless You Love Eva

Eva so glad your daughter was spared and is doing well. It matters not when the accident took place, these things have a habit of coming back into your mind and we just want to thank our Heavenly Father for His care over us. The roads are so busy , one needs to be extra careful. Have a good day. Margaret.xx
