GENTLY SETS THE SUN

GENTLY SETS THE SUN

The hours have flown, and so has the day,
With the goings and comings and all.
Inevitable though--time does hold sway
And the glowing sun begins to fall.

Ever so gently sets the sun.
Not in a hurry, its pace oh, so slow.
Our body clocks follow as day becomes done,
Many feel ‘tis so sad to see the sun go.

It must come, for we all need the time to rest,
Turn our weary souls over to a slower pace.
Now for the night ones, their time to invest-
All moon spirits, to savor its beautiful grace.

So we walk or we sit to watch the great show.
All the colors galore, unbelievable each day!
Gently sets the sun with its warm, soft glow,
Souls quietly celebrate, each in their own way.

‘Tis a wonderful end to a day, sun’s soft voice,
For the Lord has a way of giving us His love.
If your soul is His, this is time to rejoice
In His gifts, that so graciously come from above

As I watch the sun set oh, so gently tonight,
Angels wings gently cool the earth, soft without sound
Their shift is over, they've done what they might
I can feel the love flowing so freely around.

At the end of the day, the night angels begin.
Their charges are stirring and coming alive.
Yet, just as dusk settles, I watch to the end-
Gently sets the sun, let the night now revive!

My eyes watch the colors as they softly fade,
Straining to see the last shred ‘til its gone.
Then the night I embrace, the evening shade-
Time to watch all the glorious stars turning on!

And my soul is at rest with a sigh of content,
For the beauty I’ve seen in this glorious day.
What a wonderful time all my senses have spent
And I thank you, I thank you Dear Lord, for today.

Linda, for starters I LOVE THE TITLE.. it reminds me of a song..

the poem was beautiful, a tribute to God for giving you another beautiful day to enjoy..

this stanza stands out too me..

As I watch the sun set oh, so gently tonight,
Angels wings gently cool the earth, soft without sound
Their shift is over, they've done what they might
I can feel the love flowing so freely around.

Take care my friend, see ya around.

Hey, good friend, Daniel !! Thank you very much for such a nice comment on this poem. Glad that you liked that stanza. It's interesting to see what grabs people in the poems we write, isn't it ?? One of the things I love so much about writing it is the different aspects shown to me by others that I didn't see at first ... I call it faceting. So many different angles to a poem !!

You take care, too, Daniel...and thank you once again !!! Yep, I'll most likely be here sometime or another...I love Hugs !!

Love to you always...Linda :D :)
