[size=150] A Farmer & His Chicken
I’ve looked forward all week to telling you this story;
Because I knew it would bring GOD so much glory.
I recently heard this true account about a Farmer nearby
Whose barn burned down, along with a six month supply
Of corn, peaches, okra, and a few buttered beans
He and his wife had canned, and stored above the beams.
Soon after the fire, the Farmer scoped out the yard
Taking note of the damages and what he could afford
To rebuild the barn, the stalls, and to replace his tractor:
Word got around and a neighbor volunteered to be his benefactor.
While scoping out the yard, the Farmer saw some peculiar things:
One was a chicken standing there, burnt clear to the tip of her wings.
Farmer wondered why the chicken didn’t run away:
And, why he let himself get fried; but he couldn’t say.
The Farmer tipped the chicken with the end of his cane,
And out from underneath her wings, several baby chicks came.
They had been protected by the one who loved them most:
Their Mama sacrificed her life, this is what she chose.
Underneath GOD’s Wings, we are protected in His Shadow.
Safe in every storm, even the violent tornado,
Only if we abide there, only when we do,
Can we rest in His promises He gave to me and you.
Father GOD desires to gather us under His Wings to stay,
So let us run for cover, like they were told to in Noah’s day.
