FLEETING MOMENTS

Late February afternoon, the sun peeks from behind gray clouds, birds begin chirping a dusky song, drawing my attention to their merry cheer. Playing in the evergreens growing in my courtyard, they are having a grand time conversing with one another.

Fluttering and flying about are Cardinals, Sparrows, and the most unusual bird I’ve ever seen perches on my garden table. He’s black with a red breast, and white band around his throat. His beak is orange—a quiet bird, not easily distracted.

Taking photos of him, he poses several times for me, as if to say, "I’m a rare bird, and few of me will you see."

As I stand in the doorway, watching and listening to the sweet songs of these very different birds, my heart feels true happiness and joy at the simple beauty of God’s creations.

I believe, happiness comes sometimes in fleeting moments, and when it does, we should enjoy it to the fullest, and feel blessed that our Lord gave us this gift of beauty.
*****************
Later, as dusk turns to nightfall, a cold, Kentucky mist moves in, then, turns to heavy rain pinging against the tin roof that covers me. It sends me to bed wanting only to curl warmly ‘neath my comforter and dream.

January and February are lonesome, blue Kentucky months for me. The silence of winter sometimes is deafening, or howling winds whistling around the house tend to give me a creepy feeling as if wolves are at my door.

But, I love living in the country, it’s where I was raised, so, I’m use to changes in weather, and the luxury of seeing wild birds, and God’s creatures all around me in wonderous beauty.

Fleeting moments indeed, and I can relate very well Brenda. The beautiful of God's earth and his birds abounds or seems to more so as Spring time knocks upon our door, and you described it so very well in this write. Reading this makes me yearn for Spring more so. Already we are hearing the tree frogs at night, well, Joyce is, my hearing is the pits. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Brenda. God bless. GLYASDI
Live today as if it were your last, for tomorrow it will be your past, but live it with peace in mind, joy to find, and for God divine!

I love this Brenda. I so wish that I lived in the country.
I grew up in the country, but that was so many years ago.
I lived in Oklahoma for 6 years and that was just so delightful.
The only birds that are around here are doves. They aren't very colorful,
but it is still nice to have them around. I really enjoyed you write.
Hope to read more soon, my friend.

YOU'VE GOT ME REAL CURIOUS ABOUT THAT DARK BIRD, BRENDA !!! I CAN'T PLACE IT IN MY MEMORY BANKS...HMMMM. I LOVE HOW YOU DESCRIBE THE ACTIVITY OF THE BIRDS AROUND YOUR COURTYARD, GIRL...IT'S SUCH A NICE PLACE FOR THEM TO HANG OUT, TOO. SORRY TO HEAR YOU'VE BEEN BLUE AGAIN...REMEMBERING NOW HOW THE WINTER DOES TO YOU. I THINK SPRING IS ON THE WAY, THOUGH...TREES HERE ARE PUSHING OUT NEW LEAVES AND THINGS ARE COMING UP OUT OF THE GROUND. THE FLOOD IS OVER AND WATER IS RECEDING, LEAVING BEHIND TONS OF SAND...YUGGHH...BUT NO HARM WAS DONE AND NONE HAD TO EVACUATE.

GREAT TO HAVE YOU BACK HOME, AND WRITING AGAIN, BRENDA...

LOVE YOU, GIRL....LINDA :D
Always be kind and fair; it all comes back to you in time ! Image

Hi Brenda, dear friend, :D
I stop here this morning, and let me tell you that
your story ignites a flame in my heart. I'm truly flattered.
You really blaze a trail for others to follow
your distinguished writing. It's amazing...
I indulge reading your stories and poems that
are almost like handmade crafts, and I am still
craving and yearning for more...
You sculpture your wondrous stories with a majestic touch
that is your pure and fine style.
As you may know, I am a nature lover, animal lover
and advocate. I defend mother nature and animals' rights.
I am unable to live without nature and animals in my environment.
They give me inspirations, and a meaningful reason to live for a better life.
I see the change of Seasons makes the best of you -when it comes to
Spring and Summer. It does that to me too...
I see that Winter and Fall bring your spirit down to your blues. It happens to me too, darling...
Birds and their songs pour down a fresh brand new start, a new beginning
each morning -as I hear them singing upon the trees...
Thank you, Brenda sweetheart for sharing your God's gifts and poetic talents,
and for bringing so much joy and wisdom to all Net Hugs friends!
I admire you so much, Brenda!
God keeps sending you a shower of blessings.
In Jesus' Vineyard,
Ms. Monica. :D
