Her Journey On The Trail

Post by Janice Kennedy » Sat Feb 23, 2013 12:27 pm

Her Journey On The Trail

Her people, forced to leave their lands, her family soon was gone.
Yet still she trudged that weary trail---though grieving, she trekked on.

Her Pinto bore her day by day along that trail of Tears;
she trusted in the Great Spirit, therefore she had no fears.

Because her dear ones she had lost, her heart did sorely ache.
Though worn down by these tragedies, her faith she'd not forsake.

To preserve her heritage: that was now her foremost goal,
for she was sure that this would be her most important role.

As they journeyed, they were all of the same plight.
For each one of them, the future did not look bright.

One day she met a Brave, who shared the same tragic loss.
For both of them, bore the burden of a heavy cross.

They agreed, traveling the trail together was the thing to do.
For strength and comfort from each other, they could look to.

Traveling side by side, the journey became easier to endure.
The solace they gave to the other, for their grief became a cure.

By their journey's end, they had on each other come to depend.
They both realized they had become much more than just friends.

Knowing in their hearts, from them a new family heritage would grow:
and in being together their lives had reached a new plateau.

Jan, these maybe stories of your imagination but I'm guessing that you're imagination isn't far from being very true. May God Bless each and every native American tribe, as they were a peaceful people trying to work with the government. Which took away their land, hertiage and lost much of their culture. As this is so true for the American Indain, we now face our own culture raid, being a nation casterated by the worst of the worst govenment in history. You've painted a very descriptive picture of the trail of tears and the abuse of our beloved American Indain. Thank you for your wonderful Native American stories and your wonderful talent of a excellent writer. God Bless you. Love you, Brenda

Dear Brenda, you give me too much credit. Everything you said is mostly true;
but Father God was the One that gave it to me. Without Him I am truly nothing.
I never dreamed that I could write, until He put the desire in my heart to do so.

I know in my heart that God lead me to Nethugs and for whatever His reason
He took me away for a while; now He has brought me back again and I am so
glad that He did. We never know where He will lead us, but we must always be
willing to follow.

May be from your imagination Jan, but I like it just the same. Our imagination is a good thing, and a different but good way to write poetry. Thumbs up on this one. God bless.
Live today as if it were your last, for tomorrow it will be your past, but live it with peace in mind, joy to find, and for God divine!

Thank you for your kind words, dear friend, Steve.
I have been praying for your health, and I really hope that you
are feeling much better. It has been a hard winter for many this year.
Hope I will soon be reading more of your wonderful poetry.
