He was far away mommy said he had to go fight in a war, so her and mommy would wait each day for the mailman to come, maybe they would get a letter from daddy. Maybe today a letter would come; she bounced out of bed and almost tripped going down the stairs. It was going to be a good day she just knew it! She could smell the bacon cooking from the kitchen she paused a moment to take in the smell hardly noticing her puppy jumping excitedly at her arrival in the kitchen.
Morning mommy, well good morning honey you certainly are cheerful this morning, and I see you have Teddy, she smiled and gave Teddy an extra squeeze then climbing up on the chair took her place at the table, waiting for her breakfast before she got dressed and wait with mommy for the mailman.
She wondered what war meant and why people had to fight. Why did daddies have to go to war? Mommy had told her that daddy and a lot of other daddies and some mommies were fighting in the war too! She said it was so America could be free! Freedom mommy said was very special and it was really important that America would stay free! I was so proud of my daddy when she told me that but I still missed him mommy said she missed him too and then she said that we needed to pray that God would keep daddy safe in the war, when we prayed I heard mommy cry and I told her it’s all right mommy I know because it’s going to be a good day!
When the mailman came up the walk to their little house he was whistling and had a huge smile on his face holding a letter in his outstretched hand he said. Look what I’ve got for you jumping up and down I said see I told you mommy It’s going to be a good day.
