After 2000 years a new Herod
tries to kill baby Jesus again
he doesn’t just sit there on his tod
he arrogantly comes out of his den

No more “Merry Christmas”
only “enjoy”, “Happy Holidays”
no more allowed to witness
no more allowed to praise

An old man, they call “Santa”
supersedes the Holiness of “The Child”
dressed in a fluffy red “manta”
he domineers and Jesus is reviled

No more public “Mangers” allowed
only most fancy “Holiday” trees
in front of which heads are bowed
asking the tree the world to appease

Oh, my Jesus, please don’t delay
Your coming “on the clouds”
so that all of us this Christmas day
may testify to the crowds.

Hello Dear sister in the Lord. Just read your thoughts about how much Christmas is being worshiped in this day and age. I agree with you and am reminded of a little story I heard some time ago. It was about a class of school children who were to act out the Christmas play. One by one they came on to the stage to bring a gift to baby Jesus and soon the crib was covered in gifts so much so that the last little girl who came out said "WHERE IS THE BABY" she could not see him because he was covered in presents. So much like mankind today who can not see just how much God did for us when He gave the greatest gift of all. His beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. We are not asked to remember his birth but rather His awful death on Calvary and it is with "reverence" and joy we do so each Lord's Day morning. Much love and have a Happy Day. Wilmas.
