WILL THIS BE OUR LAST CHRISTMAS?

At this time of year, our hearts reach out ,
To thoughts if Christmases shared long ago.
Memories as a child, a soft tear that would fall,
It all passed so quickly; Where in the world did time go?

In our childhood days, it was a much simpler time,
When our families would all gather around,
A big Christmas tree that lit up the room,
And the voice reading the story was the only audible sound.

Of course we were excited, because Santa was near,
A spirit that brought with it so much fun.
But we listened intently knowing full well,
That this day we celebrated the birth of God’s Son.

There were carolers who would come to share a song at our door,
And in the church yard, there was a manger of hay.
It was so real that you felt like you could really see,
The precious baby Jesus, as in the stable He lay.

But, now a simple “Merry Christmas” is treated like something illegal.
And the things that are evil are not looked down on anymore.
We see the people all gathered with angry attitudes,
And the threats that surround us make us fear opening our door.

What has happened to the love we once felt for our brother?
Where has the Spirit of Heaven’s Sacred Gift gone?
It has been taken away as if IT were the villain,
And the air is filled with cursing like the adversary's song.

The Bible speaks of a of time when God’s Holy Word,
Will be stolen away from each of us one by one.
And today the headlines of all the newspapers,
Explain that if we don’t comply, we could die, by the guillotine or a gun.

Will this really be our very last Christmas?
Will we never again see the Angel on top of the tree?
Will we never again sing about the birth of our Savior?
Surely this is not what Americans want Christmas to be!

Dear God, we Praise You and thank You for the Gift of the Christ Child.
For His is a freedom they can never take away.
Hidden within our hearts are the words that have saved us,
And because we believe, we will continue to pray.

AND TOGETHER IN HEAVEN WE’LL CELEBRATE EACH CHRISTMAS DAY!!

John 10: 28-30 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never
perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father,
Which gave them me, is greater than all: and no man is able to pluck
them out of my Father’s hand. I and my Father are one.

Karen,
This is a MASTERPIECE! And so true you write the most heart touching Amazing poems and I know why, it is because you always listen to God. Christmas will always be about our Savior in our lives as long as we live and Thank God we will pass that on to our children and whoever else we can.

Thank you, Eva. I liked it but I felt a little overwhelmed by it. Our world is changing more all the time
but our God will never change. There is such comfort in knowing that and I am so glad that no matter
what happens in this life, we will be able to serve Him throughout eternity.

Thank you for your kind words.

Love,
Karen

Again, Jeff, I am thrilled to hear these things from you. What a joy it is to be so blessed.
Your opinion (and Pokey's ) always were so important to me. This poem was a bit different
but this Christmas is a little bit different for most people. But, it really doesn't have to be
because WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE KING. THANK YOU, MY DEAR FRIEND!

Love to you always,
Karen

Thank you, Dear Wilma,

It has been a long time, but I have not forgotten you. I am so happy that you are back here.
I am in an out but have been around quite a bit lately. The Christmas season is upon us all
again, a wonderful time to renew old acquaintances and remember the blessings of long ago.

Thank you for visiting me and for your comment to my poem. I hope that you and your family
are all well and that you will have a blessed and very Merry Christmas. Thanks again for your
kindness.

Love you,
Karen
