JUDAS ISCARIOT

The son of Simon, Judas Iscariot, just who were you?
One of the chosen twelve? One who was a traitor, too?
Did you not know that about you Jesus already knew
saying to the others, “and one of you is a devil”, too?

Did you not know, Judas, that you fulfilled prophecy?
David wrote in Psalms 109:5-8 for all to read and see.
And Peter told those who were an hundred and twenty,
your days had been numbered as part of the ministry?

Did you not remember at the table where you supped,
how Jesus shared unleavened bread and wine in a cup?
And when Jesus said to all, “One of you will Me betray,”
you leaned into His breast, “Is it I?” Words you did say.

“You have said so.” He revealed His betrayer to them.
“That thou doest, do quickly” were Jesus’ words again.
Judas, did not you know how much He loved you so?
Did you also know down Via Dolorosa Jesus would go?

Also, why did you, Judas, in the Garden of Gethsemane
“betrayest thou the Son of Man with a kiss,” asked He?
Why did Jesus you betray to the chief priests as agreed
for 30 pieces of silver? Was it out of your satanic greed?

After betrayal and condemnation, the repentance came.
To chief priests and elders, you returned the coins again,
saying, “I have sinned and betrayed innocent blood.”
“What is that to us!” Their words hit like a strong thud.

The Gospels tell us, you went and did yourself hang.
You forgot that “words spoken against the Son of Man,
all manner of sin and blasphemy, shall be forgiven.”
Your betrayal, Judas, was not an unpardonable sin.

love it, Kay. It's hard not to feel sorry for Judas, as he WAS fulfilling prophecy. And what he did really was no greater sin in God's eyes than Peter denying Christ as well. great poem!

Dear Eva and Pokey: My "working hard" to share with all you Easter this season has been a healing time for me. I have been able to focus on the various individuals that were with Jesus in His final hours and attempt to see what they saw. Our Father God has so blessed me within my own spirit and for that I am so grateful as I continue to be His humble servant. Thank you for you kind words of praise and support.......blessings for today and a beautiful Easter season.....KayD
