Lady Soldier

Lady Soldier

There she lays crying
Crying herself to sleep
Counting all her nightmares
Instead of counting sheep

She was just a soldier
In a war that had no win
She seen her number of deaths
Including those of her friends

She feels as though
Part of her died over there
the parts of understanding
As she looks for reasons to care

She searches in her soul
For answers she may never find
But she'll continue searching
For answers for man kind

Her husband lays beside her
Though he's sound asleep
She often wakes him up
As she begins to weep

We all have our pasts
That haunts us now and then
Maybe to keep us from repeating
Doing bad things over again

Most nights she whispers a prayer
That her burdens will be set free
Hoping for a better life
A brighter future she hopes to see

She's still a good woman
With two kids to raise
Each morning she looks at them
As she gives God her praise

She's thankful for her life
As she gets up everyday
Knowing she could have died
To her it's more reason to pray

The nightmares from that war
Has made her age double up
Eyes are saggy,face is wrinkles
She looks like a whipped pup

Where she finds her energy
Now that is hard to tell
Because we already know
She's been through a living hell

If you should meet her
Shake her hand with pride
Thank her for her services
It will help her heal inside

TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A GENIOUS
TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A FOOL
BUT OUR WORDS OF POETRY
IS JUST OUR EXPESSION TOOL
