Lady Liberty

Lady Liberty

She stands there alone
With noises all around
She cried out loud
When the towers fell down

She holds up her torch
For all of us to see
If you haven't figuired it out
I'm talking about Lady Liberty

She stands on that land
With a crown on her head
As each war breaks out
She feels the blood that is shed

She was just a gift
But her power has grown
As she greets one and all
She's respected and well known

They say she's just copper
Just a symbol of what was
But she sees no colors
Just a statue of all loves

She stands in the harbor
Watching planes and ships go by
As she hears of more deaths
With the rain she will cry

She heard her first gun fire
When she was still young
At first it gave her a startle
But then she went numb

She watched Old Glory
As she was carried into wars
And each rip and tear
Was each of her battle scars

Yes she's our Lady Liberty
If only she could talk
Oh of the tales she could tell
Polliticians might run instead of walk

TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A GENIOUS
TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A FOOL
BUT OUR WORDS OF POETRY
IS JUST OUR EXPESSION TOOL
