Wounded Soldier

Wounded Soldier

There he sits
A ragged looking old man
His nerves are shot
Right with his shaking hands

He was just twenty-five
When he was sent to Iraq
Under his first employ, they
Found themselves under attack

To look at him now
You'd think he was even older
He came back a nervous wreck
Remembering as this world turns colder

His right eye twitches
Like someone's pulling his brow
His legs jump and aches, At times
He feels like throwing in the towel

Many don't understand him
The military seem to think he's ok
Because they gave him purple hearts
Then they upped his bit of pay

But, how can one put a price
On the Hell he's going through
Sometimes he sits there and wanders
If they're ever going to get a clue

He's just one of so many others
In a league of wounded soldier boys
Because Governments want to play war
These soldiers are nothing more than toys

As if they are merely pawns
In lifes big game of chess
Always testing out new things
Just to see who's the best

TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A GENIOUS
TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A FOOL
BUT OUR WORDS OF POETRY
IS JUST OUR EXPESSION TOOL
