Lonely Soldier

Lonely Soldier

As he sat against the pole
With a can there on the ground
He wasn't bothering anyone
He sat there not making a sound

His boots was on his feet
Though they was in rough shape
His jacket all ragged and torn
His memories he could never escape

He thinks back to that horrid night
That his platoon was over powered
And theywas taken prisoners
Then tortured for many hours

The dreams wake him up a lot
Because of war his life was changed
Some snurl up their noses at him
As if he's a creature so strange

But if they could understood his life
They would treat him with much respect
And the outcome of their views
Would surly have so much of an effect

He sit's there by that pole
Collecting money in his can
Just to get something to eat
While prisoners live better on their cans

He fought hard for his country
To come back to hell on the streets
Never asking for more than he deserves
While he sits there in his defeats

Should you see him out there
Don't be ashamed to shake his hands
For gave more than you'll ever know
So we could live free on this land

As he foughtin that war over there
He was not fighting for color or race
He fought to help keep America free
Yet is forced to hang his head in disgrace

So thank all your local soldiers
No matter what war they was in
Because every war is a loss
Started over greed, and that is a sin

TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A GENIOUS
TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A FOOL
BUT OUR WORDS OF POETRY
IS JUST OUR EXPESSION TOOL
