Up On The Hillsides

Up On The Hillsides

Up on the hillsides
There stands a lot of graves
All part of our history
Some suffered, but proudly gave

The first ones trace way back
To the early "Tea Party days"
Not knowing they would set a trend
Leading to even more rebel ways

There are some graves there
From back in the cowboy and Indian days
All meant to happen then
Like a stepping stone up to this day

There are other soldiers there
Some wore grey, some wore blue
From the days of the civil war
They gave their all, that is true

Each stone is a reminder
Of everything that has come to pass
Telling us to never forget
And never repeat history from the past

Each day is a new beginning
That those souls would wish to see
Their bodies lay down there under
As their souls watch over you and me

Remember they too had loved ones
That are somewhere in our family tree
Had they not fought those wars
Then there might not be no tomorrows to see

So, as you pass a graveyard
Give them all an honorary salute
They are all part of our history
No matter what color of skin or suite

TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A GENIOUS
TO SOME WE SEEM LIKE A FOOL
BUT OUR WORDS OF POETRY
IS JUST OUR EXPESSION TOOL

Norman,
This is so Good! And we have so much to be Thankful for, especially those lives that were given so that we could be free!

God Bless You Eva
