She roams these streets
Late most every night
In her long white gown
Boys she sure is a sight

She just roams around
Looking for her love
He died back in the civil war
The Angels took him in up above

Though she searches for him
He was killed one night
Hung by the neck in a tree
when he refused to fight

Some crazy things happened
Way back even then
That war split up families
As well as many friends

With her gown hanging down
As pretty as she can be, for a dance
But little did she even know
Their love never stood a chance

They had made wedding plans
Just short before that war broke out
Their dreams went down stream
Faster than water through a spout

So she just roams these streets
We often hear her moarnful cries
And if we listen really close
We can even hear her asking "why?"
