The Last Leaf

The rustle of the branches bending back and forth
Swaying to the gentle wind, dancing with the breeze
Quietly singing with the rest of nature in tune
The leaves fluctuate, with great ease!

The heat of summer has ended, fall is here
Some major changes will be taking place
Cooler air soon will plunge onto all of nature
Not like the summer season, full of warmth and grace!

First, leaves will turn into vibrant colors
Displaying beauty proudly, unlike any other to be found
Their time for existence is at near end
Eventually, all will fall one by one to the ground!

The leaves converse back and forth to each other
Talking about summer adventures, how much fun it has been
Saying good-bye to all their friends they hold dear
Giving last words of love to their offspring and kin!

One little leaf sits quietly, not saying a word
They can all fall to the ground, but here I will stay
Why Mama and Papa want to fall, I don't understand
That old north wind will not make me go away!

Slowly the leaves start to fall below to the cold ground
Everyone seems happy and so willing to go
Mama and Papa said they would see me again real soon
But I know this is lies and is just not so!

Soon the little leaf was all alone on the tree
Holding on was harder to do with each passing day
One day, the tree began to speak to the leaf
Go with your family, it's not right for you to stay!

But is I fall, I surely will die like the others
I want to live here forever, if you will let me
Go with your family, you will not die
Life awaits you down below, you will see!

But the little leaf refused to let go and hung on
The days were cold now, and he was to
He was so lonely and sad, and missed his family
So he let himself go and down through the air he flew!

Winter was long and cold, alot of snow had fell
Spring returned, little trees started to sprout everywhere
The little leaf opened his eyes, discovering he was alive
He heard his Mama and Papa shout, We're over here!

His Mama said, I told you I would see you again
But you would not listen and refused to fall
We are all trees now and will live for a long time
We will have many years together, because we are all small!

The little tree said, Mama will I die someday and not come back?
Yes, his Mama replied but we will go to a much better place
High up in the sky is Heavens Garden, there we will all go
But till then, here we will stay in the warmth of God's Loving Grace!
