A MOMENT IN TIME

The year of our Lord is two thousand nine
Across the ocean, things may be fine
But here in our great USA
Things are not right in a big way

In the womb, babies are no longer secure
The government says abortion is the cure
The number goes higher each and every day
Of humans with potential who are tossed away

Children in school don't start with a prayer
It's almost as if our Lord were not there
Instead of learning reading, writing and math
They learn homosexuality is an alternative path

The numbers of illegals is quite a sight
They creep into our country in the dead of night
Instead of returning them from where they have come
Our government gives rewards of benefits to each one

Violence and sex in movies is beyond the pale
But speak God's name in public and you may go to jail
A small infraction will get you suspended from school
In this day and age being a Christian is not cool

Our forefathers gave us a gift for all time
It's our Constitution, which is as precious as a gold mine
It's supposed to protect our freedoms in every way
But it seems our freedoms are being taken away

The government tells you not to smoke
Recently, they said not to drink Coke
The government hates guns, what can I say
They are now formulating plans to take them away

They've taken over auto companies and banks galore
Now they're after health care and Lord knows what more
This taking of our freedoms must come to an end
So that our country can begin to mend

Healing won't begin until God is back
In our halls of justice, where they've gotten off track
The people in Congress are being swayed
By Satan's influence in every way

If you love your country, as I know you do
You'll pray to God to change the view
We must get rid of all the slime
So next time we look will be a good moment in time

You are the best there is at writing this type of poetry, Beverly. It is a sad thing that our country and our world is failing so desperately at keeping our focus on God, Who is the only Hope any of us have. All the rights of the Christians are being sripped of us all daily. God, family and country are NOT what is important anymore. I have a friend who is in such a terrible financial bind that she can't afford to retire. She barely has food to stretch from one pay check to the next. It breaks my heart and I am going to be looking into some help that might be available to her.

This makes me angry at this country. We waste so much on money on goofy things like the cost of going to a football game, or building the fanciest football stadium for a bunch of criminals to play football in and make millions of dollars per season, while our elderly are dying in poverty because there is nothing and no one that even cares if they have a meal to eat.

This is excellent and I just wish that our people would make a stand and start speaking out for those who work themselves to death and still cannot even squeak by with enough money to eat or pay their medical bills. But, these people have faith and they are so strong. I praise God for their strength that keeps them going.

YOU DID A WONDERFUL JOB ON THIS POEM. WAKE UP PEOPLE. IT IS TIME TO FEED AND TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN. WE COULD FEED THE WHOLE WORLD IF WE WANTED TO BADLY ENOUGH. GOD HELP US TO GET OUR PRIORITIES IN ORDER.

This is an awesome poem Beverly!!! I agree with every word your wrote!!! I'm amazed at what our country has become ~ a country who lets the minority speak for the majority!!! A country who cares more for illegals than born Americans!! A country who has allowed the ACLU to bring frilivous cases to court!! A country full of greed and slimy politicians!! A country who has voted a man into the Presidency who has no qualifications whatsoever!!! And a country full of people who gets offended if you mention Jesus' name!!! Heaven help us!!!! I also agree with everything Karen said too!!! Well, I will continue to worship our Lord and if they don't like it, TOUGH!!!! Sorry about me going on here but what is taking place in this country so upsets me and I wind up getting on my soap box!!! I apologize to you!!! I think your poem should be read by everyone!!! Thank you, Karen and Chee Chee, for your wonderfull responses to my poem. God told me to write this poem and He gave me every word. He said, "The people are NOT listening!!! We must remind them again!!!!" He wants all of us to get angry and do something about it. It is time we all speak out against the evil that has settled on our beloved country. I appreciate both of you reading and commenting on this poem. It appears it is getting the results God wants.

It sure does seem like all that you say in this poem is right on target Angel. Al least as far as I can see it as well. And it just might be worse before it gets better. Now our government is brewing up to target the Internet, probably to get rid of all the Christian websites. But I really believe that the people have had enough of this and are going to do something about it. It takes a lot of courage to write this, but sweetie we do have to let our voices be heard. And this one will be heard even better in another format. It's a shame that we have to write about these things as poetry, but maybe it is also a good way to vent our frustrations as well. Sorry I am so late in replying, just been a long day. Thank you dear friend for sending the link.

You said it all here and it is so sad, I am so grateful that we have God for I know that there is no battle that He cannot win,and I don't believe He is going to just stand by and let everything keep going the way it is especially with all His children crying out to Him in Prayer. My gosh, girl this must have been festering inside you. How explicit and straight to the point is what you have written here. I wanted to highlight some verses, but they became too many and I would have had to highlight your whole poem. I believe, along with you, that it really is going to take massive amounts of constant prayer to set this world back onto its feet again....even just this United States of America. I hope that Steve or Chee Chee have taken your words here and made a video of them so that it can be seen and heard around the world.
