The Christmas Gift

The Christmas Gift

There she sits all alone
Backwards and shy in her room
As a cleaning lady passes by
With her cleaning cart and broom

She spots the little girl
As she stares in to space
Wandering what she could do
To help such a precious little face

She goes in, places the child on he knee
Saying "tell me what you want for Christmas, child
I'll be sure send old santa a note
As she held back pack the tears, behind the smile

The little girl looked up at her
And said "all I realy want is love
Someone to adopt me out of here
Dont want no socks, shoes or gloves

I want someone to hold me
And tuck me in bed at night
Read me a little story
Tell me everything will be alright

I'm not like so many other kids
that have want to lists a mile long
I just want to be truly loved
Is that ok, or is that wrong ?"

The cleaning lady was in awe
At the little girls words so true
She said "I'll write this all down
And send it to santa just for you

But what is your name child ?
What name should I put on there
Should I mark it rush delivery ?
Would you like a doll or teddy bear ?"

The little girl shook my hand
And said "just put on there orphan Lou Anne '
Yes tell him to please hurry
Even though we know he's a busy man "

It was the cleaning lady asked
"Lou Anne, would you pray with me ?
Hold onto my hand as we kneel down
For I'm a tired old lady,you see"

After their prayers
Then the cleaning lady had to go
A couple of days went by until she returned
She said "Lou Anne,I've adopted you let's go

I've got us a house
with lots of love in this heart
Everything will be alright,baby
Look like you get a brand new start
