Father's Day poem for my dad in heaven

Post by blessed » Sun Jun 15, 2014 7:52 am

I'm grateful for the moments you gave me as a child.
to me you were strong, but still tender and so mild.

Those times we spent together in my mind they'll always be,
A cherished special memory and so personal to me.

I still recall the hurt I felt, on that dreadful summer day.
I remember how I felt, on the day you went away.

I thought it so unfair that you would never see,
Never would you know the person would I'd be.

I tried to live my life with the morals that you taught.
The journey was quite difficult in the battle that I fought.

Today I am a woman. A warrior with scars,
With hopes and dreams and goals they almost reach the stars.

I don't know if you realize all the things that I have done,
I'm married with two kids, a daughter and a son.

Today that it is Father's Day, I want to say thank you.
To tell you that I love you, miss you, and I'm grateful for too.

I'm glad to have had you as my dad...R.I.P Daddy....luv u

Thanks Eva, yeah this August makes 31 yrs. that he passed away. He died in 83' when AIDS had begun to come out. They gave him a blood transfusion with tainted blood, he got full blown AIDS and died 6 months later. It was all very quick. Everytime I see the chayote and the roadrunner, it reminds me of him automatically because even at 16, we used to sit together on Saturday mornings and watch cartoon together. I was only 16 yrs old when he passed and his death hit me very hard. Next month I graduate from college with a degree in science to go into the medical field which is a promise I had made to him. 30 yrs later, but I was able to do it so I know I didn't let my dad down. Thank you...Be blessed. :)
