~ A Christmas To Remember ~

Post by DeaconSteve » Sun Dec 13, 2009 4:38 am

They are waiting for that day -
When Santa will bring them toys,
Guessing what might they get -
Those fortunate little girls and boys.

Some others look forward to less –
There is no Santa Claus for them,
Toys are the least on their minds –
Their broken lives need to mend.

Beautiful clothes they always wear –
Name brand only will they know,
Never to worry if they don’t fit –
While others go naked out in the cold.

People shopping for Christmas gifts –
Many family and friends for whom to buy,
Never thinking of a different fate –
Not everyone has a job on which to rely.

Christmas lights strung all over the house –
Drivers passing by, they are so bright,
The only light is a flickering candle –
Hiding their faces while parents fight.

Tucked into bed after end of day –
Pillows soft and blankets warm,
Kisses on their foreheads, saying good night –
All is safe, no fear of any harm.

Bullets flying in many directions –
Innocently striking a small child down,
Gangs roaming the streets at will –
While the poor little body waits to be found.

Put an angel on top of the tree –
Watch the lights flicker and blink,
Feel the warmth from the fireplace close –
Hot chocolate is prepared to drink.

Homeless person on the street corner –
Holding cup out to passerby’s,
Maybe a nickel or a dime will drop in –
Shivering in the cold so teary-eyed.

These pondering thoughts come to me –
As this Christmas season draws near,
Times have changed for so many folks –
Things aren’t like they were last year.

The one thing that is constant each year –
Is that Christmas is about a holy birth,
The coming of the Christ child for all who know –
That God loves His children all over this earth.

No matter the scene, be good or bad –
This event we celebrate the 25th of December,
Times have changed for many like no other -
And this will be a Christmas to remember!

Well buddy...um, I think this day is one for me to come across poems that leave me with little to say except excuse me while I try to remember how to talk. First Daniel, then AsHeIs, now you...ahhhh, poetry, it sure can speak when God wants it to, eh ?? Steve, good, very good job done on this poem. This eye opener. This great truth.

Love, Linda :D

Steve,
This is so good and so true I think about those children and the less fortunate in this world, it is so Heartbreaking, Your poem says it all and is a good reminder of all the Blessings we have and all the suffering others do. One thing that I love is knowing like you said Jesus came for us all and I believe that the ground is level at the foot of the Cross. I love your poems.

God Bless You Love Eva

"Oh My Stars" as mom Daugherty used to say. I don't know exactly where this one came from, but it came fast. Of course I had read a bunch of all your folks' poems, so many that some inspiration was in order. Thank you all for you kind comments, I'm blushing again of course,  can't even rememer all who posted, me thinks Liner, Pokey, Jeff, and Eva. This pome came about from all of the stories I read in the many emails I get each day, folks from all over, and many of them are indeed struggling this Christmas season, yet they count their blessings. I didn't want to taint the poem with any menion of the corruption in our government that has caused much of the problems for many folks. And then others a result of different reasons. What I do know is this: God in the most important person in my life. Without God, without Jesus, life is not worth living, and if we are going to live it, then give that gift to others. So again, thank you all from this heart to yours for your kind words, but most especially for the gift of each of you. Peace. Later.
Live today as if it were your last, for tomorrow it will be your past, but live it with peace in mind, joy to find, and for God divine!

Steve, this so true. It's not only in your country that it's happening but the world over. It's the same where I come from whereby the rich remains rich and the poor remains poor. Yes, we should always be thankful for what we have and be thoughtful of those who don't. Beautiful poem that you've shared, my brother. God bless you and all those you love.

Steve I pray we can all be thankful this holiday season for the gifts that people have that dont fit under a tree. The people in our lives that love us, that give so much to us just in their friendship and love. These are the priceless gifts. And may we also take the time to do what we can for those who are living without warm homes, without food, or any of the things we all tend to take too much for granted. Sadly in this economy it is more prevelant then ever. Absolutely beautiful poem Steve. There really arent too many words to say how touching this is. Thank you for blessing my heart. i pray He will bless you always.

GOD BLESS YOU STEVE !!!!

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!!

Oh my gosh you shocked the hell - o out of me, I mean the heck, but what the heck, I certainly didn't expect this Mr. Webmaster Sir, the farherest thing from my mind, but you have taken this poem and with your touch, that only you can do like no ohther, have created a work of art. And I've already read a few of the comments. I am stunned to say the least, but I am so honored that saw this worthy to be an e-card, and ever so grateful. You are the best Webmaster on the internet, and thank you Pokey, Jeff, and Katie, for you kind words and encouragement. I have no idea who submitted this or if anyone did, but I hope that many are blessed with it, as I was when the words came to me. I'm starting to blush again.  God bless you all and get with the Christmas Spirit if you haven't yet.
