Thanksgiving Blessings

Post by LadyBlue » Thu Sep 28, 2006 6:42 pm

Image

Basting the turkey while it bakes
Crimping pies for beauty's sake
Cooking yams till buttery brown
Cranberries and oranges all around

Pappa's sitting by the fire, his dog nearby
Children laughing while the babies cry
People in and out with hugs and shouts
This is what Thanksgiving is all about

Sitting around the table for twelve
Children to the side, no crystal there
Elegant table, gracefully prepared
Pappa gives the blessing with a flair

Toasts and clinks, smiles and winks
My favorite holiday of the year
A moment of silence, a couple of tears
Wishing all now gone, could still be here

Thankgiving Blessings

Well, you just come on and join in. Will be nice to have guests for Thanksgiving, especially my best friends. We are such a small family now, but I remember when everyone I loved was seated at the table. So many are now gone but Thanksgiving will always be my favorite holiday of the year. No artificial cheer and gifts, just the grateful being thankful for the blessings received all year long. It seems to be one holiday even the secular community doesn't seem offended by. Who cannot enjoy all their favorite people gathering in love and thanks.

Steve, Diane, thank you both so very much. You two will be counted among my blessings this year along with all my other friends here this Thanksgiving. I am truly blessed.
