Haunted Road

As I was making my way back home
On a gravel road all cover in leaves
As I got to the top of the hill
Aound a curve there was a sight hard to believe

There crossing that old road
Was an older man with a bucket in hand
Slowly making his way through the woods
And the leaves was moving like water over sand

I slowed my vehicle way on down
To see where he was going
It was then that I noticed
Just how his outline was glowing

Then I looked back ahead
And noticed two kids and their mother
It looked as if they was throwing leaves in the air
Then started throwing them at each other

But then I must have gotten too close
For they turned and went towards the old man
Then I noticed the was glowing too
And the leaves behind them was moving like water over sand

They went into the wood for a ways
Then dissappeared into thin air
Almost as if it were magical, I guess
Or maybe, there was an invisable door right there

I never said a word
Just kept on driving on towards home
And sat down and started writing
After things got quiet, and I was alone

But, just before I got to the edge of town
There was my neighbor man with bucket in hand
And his wife and kids was just up the street
Ironically they was throwing leaves up with their hands

Now I don't know if it was some kind of sign
Or if something had happened to those folks in my headlights
But I do know what I saw
And it all took place on Halloween night
