Grandma Is My Washing Machine
by Sandra S. Corona

When my grandson, Doogie, was younger he called me his 'washing machine' and, in doing so, inspired this poem.

Image

“Grandma is my washing machine--
she lathers me up, rinses me clean.
She brushes my teeth--makes them gleam.
Grandma is my washing machine!
Smell my hair, it’s really keen.
I splash her good. She’s never mean.
I can wait to become a teen.
Grandma is my washing machine!
Our clothes are the cleanest I’ve seen.
I am the King and Gram is my Queen.
Come and visit, you’ll see the sheen.
Grandma is my washing machine!
I agitate her now and then.
She patiently guides and then grins.
We’ve love, happiness, in the spin.
Grandma is my washing machine!”

Actually, come to think of it, my washing machine wouldn't FIT into my dryer. Naughty, naughty, guys. I'm talking about the metal ones.
