Friends

Post by Betty Bleen » Mon Dec 17, 2012 11:10 pm

You never know where you'll find a friend
In a far away place or just around the bend
But once you've found one you'll have a treasure
Worth more than any gold could measure
A friend will love you just as you are
Whether you drive a jalopy or a high-class car
If you live in a shack or a fancy apartment
Are rolling in dough or only have one cent
If you're feeling rotten or kind of blue
You can always count on a friend or two
They'll take that frown off of your face
And put a smile there in its place
They're kind, compassionate, loyal and true
A friend will always believe in you
Time flies by and soon becomes the past
But a cherished friendship is sure to last
A friend is with you even when you're apart
Their essence stays deep within your heart
Wherever life takes you, wherever you roam
Think of your friends and you won't be alone

A wonderful description of true friendship. Hopefully, you have a good friend(s) such as you have written about in your poem. I'm truly blessed with some wonderful friends, some newer and some as far back as 30 or more years. It's wonderful when you know you can count on someone when you need them and recently I have more blessings from true friends than I ever thought possible. Here's to unconditionally friendship!
As Don Quixote did, I too, tilt at windmills!

Thank you. I have several friends whom I met years and years ago. One friend I met once, when I was in grade school (I'm now 63) and we were pen pals until she passed away in 2010. She lived in NY, then NJ and I lived in WV and many other places. Her eldest daughter and I are keeping the friendship going, we both think her mom would have wanted that.
